The SB1 thermal dispersion bleed airflow sensor accurately measures airflow and direction through a 0.5 in. diameter tube with 0.5 in. NPT female connections on both ends. Each sensor is
computer calibrated between -3,000 and +3,000 fpm -(15.2 and 15.2 m/s) in a wind tunnel calibrated to NIST-traceable airflow standards.
SB1 bleed sensor probes use three “bead-in-glass” thermistors to determine the airflow rate and temperature of the air passing through each sensor housing. Accuracy is percent of reading (not
percent of full scale). Performance is assured throughout the entire calibrated range. One “bleed” sensor can be connected to a single STx102 transmitter and up to two “bleed” sensors can be connected to a single STx104 transmitter for a single airflow or equivalent pressure output.
SB1 bleed sensors can be placed across barriers defining pressure zones to assure proper pressurization by measuring the airflow bled between the two spaces through the device (hence the name “bleed sensor”).
The airflow rate can easily be converted to the equivalent pressure by applying an appropriate correction factor for the assembly.
This unique sensor can also be used for the control of supply airflow to underfloor systems that generally require accurate pressure measurement near 0.05 inches of water (12.45 Pa).
Assure positive flow across relief or return dampers by mounting one of these devices across the damper so that it is only opened when there is positive airflow through the sensor.
