"A" Density Duct and Plenum Probes

SP1 thermal dispersion duct and plenum airflow/temperature probes relate the heat transfer rate of a heated element to the airflow rate. As the velocity across the sensor increases, the heat transfer rate increases. Each sensor is computer calibrated between 0 and 5,000 fpm (0 and 25.4 m/s) in a wind tunnel calibrated to NIST-traceable airflow standards.

SP1 sensor probes use two “bead-in-glass” thermistors to determine the airflow rate and temperature at each sensing point location. Accuracy is percent of reading (not percent of full scale). Performance is assured throughout the entire calibrated range. Probes are connected to either an STx102 or STx104 transmitter that sums individual airflow and temperatures prior to averaging and outputs both to your host control system.

SP1 probes are ideal for applications requiring accurate and repeatable airflow measurement. The devices are an excellent competitive upgrade to pneumatic, pitot arrays. Thermal dispersion technology can accurately determine airflow in traditionally difficult locations since each sensor independently determines the airflow rate prior to averaging.

Predefined sensor density systems (‘B’ or ‘A’) are available over limited size ranges.
